RNLI Moelfre lifeboat 'KIWI'

Hi Dave, thanks for the info, very interesting. Obviously the name would not be familiar here, but he must have done well in the UK. What a great gift to the RNLI, almost paid for the boat! Mr Clark would have been proud I'm sure.

Visited that station in the 1950s.
Lovely spot, it was.
Still can't pronounce Moelfre, though.

That would be the most beautiful sight in the world to anyone in distress, fantastic looking boat.
Thanks for sharing with us, cheers Colin.

Fair winds and calm waters,
COLIN.

Hi JB
I have found a link re the donor for the Kiwi at Moelfre - a Mr Reginal James Clark from New Zealand.

Certainly a very generous donation in 2004.

This caught my eye while trolling YT last night,

Being down here, I wondered why someone would name a UK lifeboat 'KIWI'. Apparently named in honour of the major construction sponsor who is a New Zealander. I'd be interested to find out if he's someone well known here, and his connection to the lifeboat service.

The wash that thing puts out is massive, must weigh a bit!.
