“Help protect your delicate bits”

To protect and stop vibration on those mechanical or electrical items I use as shown in the photographs below.
Easily obtainable from your local double glazing outlets they are normally placed on the outside of the glass units to stop them rubbing together in transit.
They are plyable and one side is tacky so they will adhere to your components without leaving any residue.
I also use them for Engine block mountings.

Certainly at my local store they are happy to give them away.
Take care and stay safe.
Regards Bill.

Edit.
They are very easy to cut with a good sharp model knife or scissors.
Never give up.It will come right in the end.

Prefer the hands and knees fingertip search with high LED worklight. Besides would be killed if I pulled the net curtains down to use as a filter.

Just a quick little Tip.

When your workshop carpet monster decides to devour the little bit that just pinged out of your tweezers think about putting a bit of fine mesh/net curtain/fruit bag on to the end of your vacuum cleaner hose with an elastic band.
Then vacuum the floor and that little bit dose not disappear in to the vacuum bag never to be seen again.

" in environmental terms the aerosol propellant still ends up in the atmosphere, filter or not,"
That's why air brushes are best. Propellant is compressed air 😊 so all the filter has to worry about is the paint particles floating about👍
Using acrylics on a water base also eliminates any nasty solvents getting into the atmosphere.
Snag is finding just the colour you need in acrylic🤔 Although LifeColour are pretty good.
Happy 'emitting' Rob 🙊

Hi Doug.
I might have expected that from you 😆, in environmental terms the aerosol propellant still ends up in the atmosphere, filter or not, the pong dissipates very quickly and is considerably less noxious than some of some of my own emissions 😉

"No filter, the fan exhausts through the outlet vent in the workshop (garage) door to the outside world."
Tush tush Rob😠
So you're dumping all the 'pong' outside!
My booth has the entire back wall covered with a first stage filter.
Replaceable with the same fibre stuff you can buy in sheets for cooker hoods.
Behind that is the extractor fan with it's own carbon filter.
THEN the pipe goes out the window.
Cheers, Doug 😎
BTW: I use FFP2 masks which don't make me look like a mutated insect!😁

Hi Mark.
No filter, the fan exhausts through the outlet vent in the workshop (garage) door to the outside world. I always wear a spray mask so what I'm breathing is filtered.👍😁 and there's an old shower curtain so that I can spray 'inside the box' with the curtain behind me to exclude any over-spray from the workshop.😎

Hi Martin.
I made mine from a Lazy Susan ring with a ball race mechanism and an old circular chipboard table top, total cost including the square ply base of about £15. It's proved to be an invaluable accessory to the spray booth along with the ventilation fan 😁

I have adapted a 'Lazy Susan' for use in my spray booth, it makes spraying a hull so much easier. Mine is on a square base that I can just pull forward to allow me to rotate a large hull 180 degrees.

I use the ironing board and a revolving platter intended for mounting a TV on.
The latter also being very useful in the spray booth - so I bought two.😉
All round access, adjustable height and a good excuse not to iron me shirts😁

Hi Guys,
It Me again with another little tip.
I use a small camera tripod with a turn table attached as a work bench.
Ideal for working with small bits and pieces and is fully adjustable.
You can even work on it standing up or sitting down.
Is i am working on this plastic submarine kit i find it extremely useful.

Love your Cervia Tug, looking very realistic on the water, and if you ever get a cold day in Oz make sure you get out there and get some photos taken, so as I can see the steam which is not a problem here in the U/K as every other day is cold. Regards, Gary.

Fine Detale Sander.

Hi guys another little tip.

If you have some old scalpel blades that are blunt and you normally replace them with new ones, how about gluing a small piece of fine sand paper or wet/dry paper on to them.
Then trim to the shape of the blade.

It then becomes a nice thin sander that will get into those little awkward places.(especially if the blade is a long pointed one)
