She handles very well on the water, great on turns it's like she is stuck to the water. Hardly any roll at all. But then like an idiot I ran her up the side of the pond and now need a new prop and prop shaft fitted. (Motor: 26CC PETROL ENGINE) (8/10)
Very confusing when you have a MTB and a HSL with the same number. Which MTB/MGB was lost in a fire some years ago ? - thought it was 102 ?
Perhaps we are a little slacker here but its easy running in the harbour where you only have a very slight swell - and the 2nd harbour although its subject to small tides (does not dry out unlike some in the UK ) has a sandy beach and a few rocks/ramps to launch from - big enough to nearly run out of range on RC too - not enough people around to complain about noise etc either. Be ideal for running a large IC boat.......
Thanks for that link. I will watch that later and connect the computer up to the tell and see it on the 50". I went out just after I last wrote on here so I've only just seen it. 👍👍 I think she is now something to do with a Sea Scout group and moored possibly at Lowestoft.
There is a video on YouTube I saw somewhere of a complete tour through the boat, (may have been a BBC program) Not much to see in the engine room as it only has Cummins Diesels now. Still a bit of original equipment throughout the boat though.
Just found it, - quite interesting, not sure if you have seen it.

Sorry I'm wrong I haven't been near the boat for so long now. Looking at the pictures of her the head cooling comes out of one side and the exhaust box has got a second water pick up from the prop wash and straight into the exhaust box to help quieten her down. I do not find her loud myself, but the locals at Blackheath were we used to go were the ones that got together and had the council block the use of IC's. They had been used there sine well before the 1950's. I used to go there when I was 9 with an RAF Crash Tender with an ED Hunter diesel 3.46cc engine. I didn't have R?C in it we used to do either straight runs across the pond or let her go round in circles until she either worked her way across the pond or run out of fuel. The pond there now has a bird island in the middle and has so many ducks and the odd couple and swans on the pond they now put it down to both noise and pollution.
The water cooling was already set up but it's just basicly when it comes out of the cylinder head it's had tube soldered into the exhaust box and the exhaust gasses push the cooling out that way. If I had built it I would have run the exhaust out of the transom from two tubes, one either side of it. I would have looked more authentic that way. I will have to sit down and rewatch the PT109 film again to see what the gun on the bow looks like. Another film I have on my recorder is They Were Expendable, this is another film with MTB's in. They fascinate me. I have seen MTB 102 several times up in Great Yarmouth but they will not let me on board to see the engine room. They say it's due to health and safety with their insurance.
If and when I do go brushless I will probably look on Ebay for a gun to put on the front deck. I do have a Brushless motor and a ESC new already, I don't know if it will be powerful enough for her being just over 4ft long. The motor I have is the same as the one in my 28" Proboat Miss Geico. But she is quite a bit heavier than my Miss Geico. I still want to be able to get her up on plane at a good speed. But I still also like to be able to go well over scale speed at times. As I have said in the past, I'm a bit of a speed freak. I still need to get a shaft to go with the boat. She has a flexy shaft in her at the moment, the shaft tube got bent when I run her out of the pond due to bad timing on my steering and talkint to my brother not paying attention at the time. I am unsure wether to put another one in or go for a straight shaft. In my RAF Crash Tender's I have always used straight shafts. I got her from TJD Models at Sutton at Hone which is the next village over the hill from where I live. It was a J Perkins model supplier they ordered it from for me. I have added a picture from the box it came in, I kept the box for it in my loft.

She certainly cuts through the water.

Here is a vid of HSL 102 which might be of interest as the 100 series HSLs were based on the earlier MTB .

Watching that video brought back a few memories.
I spent some time working on both of those Archer class boats.
