@SouthportPat Great pictures!
I love the Yellow Duckmarine. Is that a scratch build?
That is a wonderful collection of amphibious vehicles; I'd love to hear more about them.
I see you had more than your fair share of ducks beyond the Duckmobile. Did they disperse as more RC boats hit the water, or did they stand their ground?
All in all, it looks like it was a wonderful day at the pond.

So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.

Todays Sailings - The Weather Got Better As The Day Progress 20 September 2026 - A Couple of Videos

The Southport Club Lake was not very busy this Sunday 13th September as many of our members were visiting the Blackpool Model Boat Show.

The weather was good, and those of us that were at the lake enjoyed some good running with our Classic Model Power Boats - and yachts.

Ians DF65 did not have enough wind to drive it along too often - even with his additional extra large sail set - but the odd gust of wind did see it running nicely.

The unofficial Sea Commander Brigade (both current and future) were present to “fly the flag” , and Rapier 1 also attracted some good interest from a new member who would like to find a Rapier for his own use.

If everyone that has seen the Rapier running and wanted to have one for themselves all found one - they would easily out-number our Sea Commanders by a considerable margin - but to date, only Rapier 1 can be seen representing this excellent 1960’s design from Les Rowell on the club lake.

The Great British Car Show was also taking part in Victoria Park, so a visit “around the corner” to see what was going on there was a bonus on such a nice day.

The Southport Model Engineer Club were also running their locomotives all day (they seldom miss).

The local Southport Model Car Club has an excellent race circuit just the other side of the model engineers station platform, and they also had a 1/10 off-road buggy race meeting on as well, so we had a lot of interesting things going on here on Sunday………even though we missed the Blackpool show…..

…….and to top it all off - we had the British Grand Masters Grass Track Grand Prix just down the road.

Sadly, I can’t be in more than one place at a time, but I was pleased to hear that Chris “Bomber” Harris won the event .
